About Us

Built with purpose.

TaeKwon-Do Dimensions Association was established with one clear intention:

  • To protect depth
  • preserve standards
  • and support responsible leadership within traditional TaeKwon-Do.

It was not built quickly.
It was built deliberately.

TDA was developed through years of observation, reflection and teaching experience.

Across different environments and affiliations, one consistent truth became clear:

  • Without structure, standards drift.
  • Without depth, movement becomes performance.

TDA was created to provide clarity – in progression, leadership, grading and technical study – so that the art remains meaningful across generations.

TDA

Our Foundation

TDA is grounded in Chang Hun TaeKwon-Do. We honour the patterns, discipline and heritage that shaped the art.

The Chang Hun system provides a technical framework that has endured for decades. Its patterns, principles and structure remain central to our identity.

We do not seek to reinvent tradition. We seek to understand it fully.

TDA encourages practitioners to look beneath surface choreography and explore:

  • Structural alignment
  • Transitional mechanics
  • Close-range application
  • The intent behind movement

Tradition is preserved best when it is understood.

TDA

A Commitment to Understanding

We believe technical study should go beyond repetition. Students should understand why they move – not simply how.

The phrase “monkey see, monkey do” describes imitation. But imitation alone does not create confident instructors.

Within TDA, we promote “Monkey understand”.

That means:

  • Questions are welcomed
  • Analysis is encouraged
  • Corrections are constructive
  • Technique is explored responsibly

Understanding builds confidence.
Confidence builds leadership.

TDA

Leadership Through Structure

Leadership within TDA is not symbolic. It is defined, supported and developed.

Leadership begins at the earliest stages of training. Students are gradually introduced to responsibility within the class environment. As they progress, they may move toward:

  • Assistant Instructor roles
  • Instructor certification
  • Examiner development pathways

Each stage is supported by governance standards and clear expectations.

Leadership is earned through consistency and example.

TDA

Influences and Mentorship

TDA has been shaped by senior practitioners who valued depth, application and disciplined study – including the mentorship and legacy of Senior Grandmaster Willie Lim.

The influence of mentors who emphasised understanding over performance has played an important role in shaping TDA’s direction.

Their focus on:

  • Principle over display
  • Application within structure
  • Honest technical study
  • Continuous refinement

This focus continues to guide how TDA approaches movement and development today.

This is not about personality.
It is about preserving substance.

TDA

Vision and Direction

TDA is designed for longevity. Its structure is built to endure beyond individuals.

The vision of TDA is steady and deliberate.
It aims to:

  • Support instructors who value depth
  • Maintain grading integrity
  • Develop future leaders
  • Preserve traditional structure
  • Encourage intelligent evolution

Growth is considered carefully.
Alignment matters more than expansion.
